My son, Alex studies in Singapore

2008.1 Alex(my younger son) and I went to Singapore to study English.
Khai who stayed at my home last year invited us.

What a wonderful Singapore and my warmest host

Everyone who reads my blog remembers my Singaporean guests, Khai.
We have kept in touch since he went back.
And he invited me and is willing to help my son's studying in Singapore.
He put my son's name on the waiting list and arranged homestay before I arrived there.
He brought me primary school, called to school for checking his application status,
and showed me many famous places such as China town, little India, Suntec City and Bugis.
He explained to me everything that I saw.
He introduced his mom to me and treated dinner.
I like to have local customs experiences when I traveled.
Visiting Hawker Center was a good chance to feel and understand about Singaporean
common life.
He seems to take after his mom and she trusts him.
Even though he felt tired he didn't hesitate to bring us Night Safari at night.
I could be with him everywhere and everytime while I stayed there..

Especially his family's members are nice and honest.
I can't forget his aunt and uncle and their children.
They picked me and my son up at the airport.
I didn't expect to see them at the airport.
While we stayed their house I felt free at home thanks to them.
They brought me Arab street and IKEA that sell household goods.
Arab street is so impressive to me.
There are Mosque and many shops and many foreign travelers there.
Hand made boutique is so beautiful and attractive me.
IKEA is selling household goods of both utility and decoration.
I hope IKEA opens its branch in Korea.
I was sorry not to go shopping in Bugis because of shower.
Singapore weather is so changeable during January.
Remember to bring umbrella when you go out.
When we went to Sun yu adventist school it was heavy rain.
But taxi driver gave us a big umbrella. What a kind and preparative driver.

I tasted local food like wanton noodle, chicken chop(my son's favorite food)
fried carrot cake, fried banana(yummy), Bakso (Indonesian food), Jelly bread and curry(Malay food) etc.
They seems to be friendly and peace.
I am comfortable my son stay their house.

I didn't go to many famous site but I had local experiences a lot thanks to Khai and G and Man(my host name).
Singapore is similar to Korea externally. Whole Singapore is metropolis.
High stories buildings, subways, shopping centers, house, crowded, many Chinese apparence etc. It's not that difficult to have Korean food, too.
Internally, many kinds of racial live together. They have 4 mother tongues.
Also they can speak English and mother tongue fluently.
Various culture is melting there.
There isn't big gap between the poor and the richer.
Social security is far better than Korea's.
Singapore schools are more competitive than Korea's.
But we deserve to follow the example of Singapore government schools' system.
Singaporean prefer to public schools unlike Korean.
I envy their education system.
It has been 10days since I came back Korea.
I miss Khai and G and her family including BB who is best housekeeper.
I really appreciate their hospitality.
